The exceptional geographic position on the Atlantic coast, just above the Spanish border, at the foothill of the Pyrenees, ensured the growth of Biarritz into one of the world's most fashionable sea resorts. Today a vibrant town of over 30 000 people, Biarritz offers a great convention center, theater Gare
du Midi with its own ballet troupe, many museums, a Museum
of the sea, Asiatica museum, exceptional golf courses, and of course, endless beaches and surfing. Easy access to International
airport.. Largest surfing competition ROXY
JAM and RIP CURL festival. Find more information in the local Leisure
Guide.

ANGLET
The small resort town of Anglet is squeezed between Bayonne and Biarritz. Infinite sand beaches, golf courses and the forest of Chiberta are the main attractions.
BAYONNE
Just a few minutes away is the city of Bayonne, an ancient town and a very important port. Bayonne is famous for its beautiful cathedral, Bayonne Ham, locally distilled liqueur Izarra, and the summer “fiesta” days. You can visit the wonderful Botanical gardens and the Museum Bonnat, with one of the largest collections of drawings by Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Goya and many others.
Surroundings
Surrounding areas are also very beautiful and intriguing, if you have time, well worth exploring.
You can tour the beautiful Basque Country by bike or by car and enjoy denumerable picturesque villages and small towns full of history and unique architecture, lush greenery and majestic pics of Pyrenees.
Just a few minutes north of Biarritz is the famous department of Landes, with infinite seawater lakes and forests, and hundreds of miles of sandy beaches and resorts, one of the most famous being Capbreton.
South of Biarritz is a beautiful fishing port, Saint Jean de Luz, well known resort with beautiful architecture, sandy beaches and excellent cuisine. If you continue south, you will end up in Spain, in the beautiful little "flower" city, Hondarribia.
Inland, just a few miles from the coast, you will find La Rhune, a majestic mountain between France and Spain. If you are fit, you can follow a relatively difficult trail to the top of the mountain at 905 meters (2970 feet), or just take the “Little train”. The spectacular view over the French and Spanish rolling hills, blue ocean and green Basque Country is worth the trip. At the bottom of the mountain is one of the best restaurants in the area, Les Trois Fontaines.
Just 15 minutes drive south of Biarritz is one of the most beautiful towns of northern Spain – San Sebastian. Beaches, shopping, some of the best tapas bars and restaurants in Spain. This area contains the largest concentration of Michelin star restaurants in the world. The old town of San Sebastian is known to have the largest concentration of bars in Spain. San Sebastian International Film Festival takes place in September, and the second half of July is the annual International Jazz Festival. The biggest annual event is Aste Nagusia which is a full week of partying in mid-August which includes traditional Basque music and dance as well as gastronomic and sporting events (plus drinking and fireworks of course).
